Manufacturing Process and Key Features
Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG) Process: Steel pipes are immersed in molten zinc (around 450°C), forming a metallurgically bonded zinc-iron alloy coating. This coating provides robust physical barrier protection and cathodic (sacrificial) protection to the underlying steel 45.
Superior Corrosion Resistance: The zinc coating, often with a purity of over 99.5%, effectively shields against environmental elements like moisture, chemicals, and soil. This can extend the pipe's service life to 50 years or more, depending on environmental conditions 45.
Durable and Adherent Coating: The process creates a coating that is tough, resistant to mechanical damage, and less likely to peel or flake compared to electroplated coatings 4.
